Petri Skriko was a teenage sensation in Finland, winning SM-Liiga Rookie of the Year in 1981 and starring on the international stage with standout performances at the World Juniors, World Championships, and 1984 Olympics. Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1981, he made the jump to the NHL in 1984 and quickly became one of the team’s top scorers.
From 1985 to 1989, Skriko delivered four straight 30-goal seasons, twice leading the Canucks in scoring. In November 1986, he recorded three hat tricks in just eight days and became the first Canuck ever named NHL Player of the Month!
