Ed Gray was an elite player for Cal in 1996-97. He was awarded the 1997 PAC-10 Player of the Year during his senior season averaging 24.8 ppg and leading the Golden Bears to the Sweet 16 as a 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He went on to play two NBA seasons with the Atlanta Hawks before being involved in a few trades including one that sent Scottie Pippen to the Trail Blazers. Those trades as well as some lingering injuries ultimately ended Gray’s NBA playing career.
