The 1999 Turn Ahead The Clock jerseys were worn as a part of a Century 21 Real Estate sponsored promotion, where teams were encouraged to imagine what uniforms would look like in 2021. This Padres version is done up to one of the greatest hitters in MLB history. Gwynn, at the tail end of his career at this point, put up his SEVENTEENTH straight season batting above .300. The all time legend would play 2 more seasons after 1999, also finishing above .300, and never played a game for a team other than the Padres.

The modern Mitchell & Ness reproductions of this style are incorrectly done as a navy blue jersey, but as you can see this legit vintage one is black.
