This 1989 game worn Mets road jersey was made up for Lou Thornton who played 13 games during the 1989 season. Prior to Thornton wearing #4, Lenny Dykstra wore 4 for the Mets, but midway through the season, Dykstra was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.

This is at the very least a game issued jersey during to the team set tagging and the number 4 player tag inside the jersey. It features special textured twill that was worn on Mets game worn jerseys at the time. certificates of authenticity were not common for game used jerseys in the era, so we’re left to photo matching to confirm game use. While this is more than likely a game worn jersey, it is difficult to find photos of Lou Thornton during the 1989 season since he played so few games.
