This jersey is a team issued heavy mesh Stall & Dean jersey with Steichen’s tagging as Minnesota wore during the 1981-82 and 1982-83 seasons. This one is tagged “81” which is the year prior to Bellows’ rookie year, but is the same exact model worn by the North Stars in 1982-83.
Brian Bellows was one of the most hyped prospects of his era, often drawing comparisons to Wayne Gretzky. As captain of the Kitchener Rangers, he led the team to back-to-back OHL titles and a Memorial Cup championship in 1982.
Drafted 2nd overall by the Minnesota North Stars in 1982, Bellows broke into the NHL as an 18-year-old and overcame early pressure to finish his rookie season with 35 goals and 9 playoff points in 9 games. Just a year later, he was named interim captain, becoming the youngest player in league history to wear the “C.”
