This authentic style Pistons jerseys is one of the earliest runs of authentic NBA jerseys that Champion released in the early 90s. The mesh jersey fabric is thicker and much higher quality than the Champion jerseys that were made in the mid-90s through early-2000s. Known for the NBA logo being extra high on the shoulder, these old Champion jersey also featured names on the back, a feature that had rarely, if ever, been used on retail authentics before. This rare Detroit jersey style with screened on details and unique number font was made in the early 90s, but the only confirmed team issued versions with the same number font are tagged 1992-93. Despite the existence of those, I have never seen a game worn example, perhaps indicating these were shelved or possibly used only for preseason in 1992.
