The White Sox hosted a “Turn Back the Clock to 1983” game on July 20, 2008 honoring Sox Legend (and now Hall of Famer) Harold Baines. These 80s “License Plate” jerseys were worn in this game for just the second time since 1986 (other occurrence was on a 2003 TBTC day). They were so popular that the White Sox ended up being them on as a full time alternate starting in 2013 and continuing all the way though 2023. The only differences between this and the other 1983 throwbacks are 1. Material (Cool Base jersey material on 2013-2023 alts vs double knit on this 2008 TBTC and the 2003 TBTC) and 2. A 1983 all star game patch (not on this 2008 version, but worn on both the 2003 TBTC and the 2013-2023 alternates).
