The Celtics wore this durene knit style jersey material up until mid-way through the 1987-88 season before switching to mesh jerseys. In the 1986-87 season, all NBA teams began wearing the Jerry West NBA logo on their jerseys. This one is specific from the 1982-83 season from this specific style of jock tag.
Coming off his first NBA championship in 1981, “Larry Legend” was already establishing himself as one of basketball’s most complete players. During the 1982-83 season, Bird earned All-NBA First Team and All-Defensive Second Team honors while finishing runner-up in MVP voting. Alongside Robert Parish and Kevin McHale, he led Boston to 56 wins, setting the stage for the Celtics’ championship run the following season.
