The Celtics wore this durene knit style jersey material up until mid-way through the 1987-88 season before switching to mesh jerseys. In the 1986-87 season, all NBA teams began wearing the Jerry West NBA logo on their jerseys. This one is specific from the 1985-86 season from this specific style of jock tag.
During the 1985-86 campaign, Larry Bird was at the absolute peak of his powers, averaging 25.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists while capturing his third consecutive NBA MVP award. Alongside Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, “Larry Legend” led Boston to a dominant 67-15 record before defeating Hakeem Olajuwon’s Houston Rockets in six games to claim the 1986 NBA championship. Bird took home Finals MVP honors, completing one of the most impressive individual seasons basketball has ever seen.
