2008 was Dan Haren’s first year in Arizona was one of the best pitching seasons in the NL that year. He went 16-8 with a 3.33 ERA and struck out 206 batters in 216 innings. His strikeout-to-walk ratio of 5.15 was the best in the National League, second only to Roy Halladay in all of baseball. He made the All-Star Game and signed a four-year, $44 million extension before the season was over.
