This jersey dates back to the 1987 and 1988 seasons as Marino was just hitting his prime, and continuing his streak of incredible statistical seasons. This style of Champion Mesh is identical to what the Dolphins wore on the field with the heavy duty mesh that is more durable than the 90s Champion retail mesh jersey. Unfortunately the jersey has the Dolphins pre-1987 number style with the numbers and name cut from twill instead of being screen printed, and are missing the aqua later in between the orange and white. Additionally, the nameplate is not the same mesh material. While maybe the attention to the finer details is lacking, these late 80s mesh model jerseys are hard to come by! And you can buy this as either a project jersey to eventually match the on-field product, or just rock as is!
