On Opening Night of the 2009-2010 NHL season, the Colorado Avalanche honored Joe Sakic by raising all time legend Joe Sakic’s No. 19 to the Pepsi Center rafters. As part of the celebration, Avs players wore this commemorative Captain’s C patch on their right chests. This one also includes Hejduk’s alternate captain “A”. Two seasons later, Hejduk would be named Colorado’s captain, and later have his number 23 retired by the Avs.
