Pat Tillman was of course an American hero, and was loyal to a fault to Arizona, making him a natural fan favorite amongst Cardinals fans. Not only did he play for Arizona State in college and get drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, Tillman at one point even turned down a five-year, $9 million contract offer from the St. Louis Rams out of loyalty to the Cardinals.
