In 1919, new owners rescued the team from bankruptcy and rebranded to the St. Patricks in honor of Toronto's growing Irish population. They played as they St Pats until 1927 when they became the Maple Leafs.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBack during the NHL’s 75th anniversary season in 1991-92, all of the original 6 NHL teams wore throwback jerseys. These are extremely hard to come by as CCM greatly underestimated their popularity and only made a handful of them for retail sale. In July 1992, CCM announced this line of CCM Heritage hockey sweaters.
